Today’s History:

On this day in 1977, “Rocky” won the Academy Award for Best Picture with a seventh-round knockout over “All the President’s Men.”

On this day in 1979, a nuclear disaster occurred in Pennsylvania when a bungling first mate crashed the S.S. Minnow into the Gilligan’s Three Mile Island power plant. 

On this day in 1984, Baltimore Colts owner Bob Irsay shocked fans by moving the team to Indianapolis, a journey that took well over a week because the Colts could only trot about 75 miles per day and needed frequent pauses for hay, oats and water.
