Here’s my first post on the new blog. History in the making.

This morning I walked over to Book and Bar to get a copy of Volume 2 of Good Fat, the new poetry zine put out by Portsmouth Poet Laureate Mike Nelson and friends. I was excited because it included my very first published poem (not including a weird little item about wombats in my high school yearbook). Good Fat it’s a beautiful little booklet, with a gorgeous cover illustration by Bnod Rai.
I was also very excited to read the works of the other contributors. The booklet felt a bit magical in my hands. As I was about to open it, it occurred to me that because of the way my poem ends, I could imagine it possibly being the last poem in the zine. So instead of opening the booklet to the beginning, I opened it to the end, and was thrilled and delighted to find my little thing. The words staring back at me in ink, on paper. Happiness.
